Azin Mahoozi

Creative Director /Belly Dance instructor

Azin founded Born 2 Dance Studio in August 2007.

Being of Persian descent, she has been exposed to Middle Eastern music and dancing her entire life. A combination of her heritage, her creative nature and her strong passion for music and dance has made her dance style natural and unique.

During high school and in college, she become the founder and lead choreographer of various Middle Eastern dance troupes, where she choreographed, directed and performed numerous belly dance and Persian dance pieces.

Following college, Azin created and started teaching a dance program that she branded as the “Graceful and Elegant Art of Middle Eastern Dance” at various fitness centers and other outlets. She also founded the Beshkan dance troupe, which performed around the DC Metro area at various prestigious venues, including the Kennedy Center, Warner Theater and Constitution Hall.

A trip to Egypt in 2004, the first of many, intensified her passion for and knowledge of the art of belly dancing, as she studied under some of the world's most renowned instructors.

Azin's passion for belly dancing and her increased mastery of the craft helped her build a huge following among dance enthusiasts and students. Encouraged by this success, and with the ambition of promoting the universal language of dance in all genres, she founded Born 2 Dance Studio in 2007 offering a one-stop center for all dance styles, including among others, Bollywood, Flamenco, Hip Hop, Salsa and Persian Dance, in addition to her ultimate passion, Belly Dance.

At the beginning of 2012, Born 2 Dance Studio employed 36 dance instructors and offered a weekly lineup of nearly 100 classes in 12 different dance styles.

In addition to being Born 2 Dance Studio’s creative director, Azin continues to teach Belly Dance and Persian Dance classes.
