ABOUT OUR TEAMS
B2D is home to various competition teams for dancers between the ages of 6 and 17, with skill levels ranging from beginner to advanced. We’re currently home to over a dozen competition teams in Hip Hop, Contemporary, Jazz, and Acro.
While our teams’ focus is on performance, our mantra encompasses a broader range of objectives, including building a strong dance foundation, embracing the spirit of collaborative team work, and exercising the highest sportsmanship at all times.
–COMPETITION SEASON RESULTS:
For the past ten seasons since we first launched the competition team program, our teams and dancers have earned wide recognition at the various regional competition events we attended. The teams received countless first place scores, won various special judges awards, and received a slew of high-platinum adjudication awards. A few of our dancers were also honored with the Ms. Title award, which is the highest award given to soloists.
Our coaches have also won various accolades for their choreography work, including Best Choreography and Best Staging, Precision & Execution, awards. The studio itself was honored three times with the much-coveted ADCC award at two of our regionals in the 2022/23 and 2023/2024 seasons.

TEAM STRUCTURE
–REHEARSALS:
The teams rehearse year-round, with a heavily reduced schedule during the Summer (waived for the 26/27 season.) Rehearsal is 2 hours per week. Rehearsals begin in the Fall session (week of September 7th). Team members are also required to take one technique class and one choreography based class per session.
–COMPETITION EVENTS:
We typically participate in four regional competitions starting in February and ending in May. No travel is required as those events are usually located in Northern Virginia or Maryland.
–STAGE RECITALS:
In addition to competition events, our teams also perform at our semi-annual recitals, held at the end of Spring semester (June) and the Fall semester (December.)
–SOLOS/DUETS/TRIOS:
In addition to being part of a team, dancers also have the opportunity to participate in solo, duet, or trio entries. There are specific guidelines on how to apply for such entries. Once a dancer becomes part of our competition team program, we will provide them with full details on the process.
