Description
Drawing from both Classical Ballet and Modern dance, Contemporary dance is an abstract form of movement that focuses on emotional expression and storytelling. Influenced by the likes of Merce Cunningham and Twyla Tharp, this transcendent form of dance has reached new heights of popularity thanks to T.V. shows, such as So You Think You Can Dance. A strong technical foundation is necessary to execute often inverted or “rule-breaking” steps and combinations, and students are advised to enroll in Ballet classes alongside this course.
In this advanced Beginner-level class, experienced dancers, with a minimum of 18 to 24 months of experience, will learn a new combination in every weekly class, as they continue to build on basic contemporary technique from the beginner classes. You will focus on continuing to develop strength and control of movement, flexibility, core stability, improvisational/interpretive abilities, and connection to choreography and music,
Prerequisites: A minimum of 18 months of prior Contemporary or Ballet experience is required.
