Description
Korean Pop music exploded onto the Southeast Asian music scene as a force to be reckoned with in latter half of the 20th century. In 2012, K-Pop’s American breakthrough occurred when “Gangnam Style” by Korean artist, Psy, was the first video to hit 1 billion views on YouTube.
Since then, Groups like BigBang have sweeped the scene with sold out concert tours in the USA. These huge K-pop acts incorporate American popular music styles such as rap, pop and techno in their songs and feature stylized urban dance choreography in their flashy and larger than life music videos. We have successfully debuted choreography to K-pop music in youth classes, as well as Hip-Hop Cardio, and our students can’t get enough of it!
K-pop choreography will showcase “new school” urban performance, featuring sharp movements, smooth transitions and of course star-quality attitude. To get a feel for what’s in store, check out artists such as BIGBANG, Girls Generation, 2NE1, 4Minute and EXO on YouTube.
