This class is designed for our short sessions (Summer Kickoff and Holiday sessions), and can be taken along with the “Part B- Crossbody Leads w/Turns” class, or by itself. Taken together, these two classes cover the core of the Salsa-Beginner II syllabus.
Many of the most-commonly used intermediate moves in Salsa come from what is known as an Open Break. In this class you will learn the basic versions of a handful of these common moves, including:
- The open break to a Cumbia
- The crossbody lead to the right
- The back spot turn
- The Copa
As we learn and drill these movements, ladies in class will find themselves easily following the male lead (no more guesswork), and the gentleman in class will have an easier time leading.
Prerequisites: Salsa Beginner I
Dance Partner: A dance partner is not required for this class, as students will rotate partners throughout the class. However, if you and your partner come to class together and prefer not to switch, then simply inform the instructor of your preference.
