Competition Team Auditions – 2020/2021 Season

Director’s Notes

Welcome to the B2D Team Audition info page for the 2020/21 season!

Without a doubt, this is an unprecedented time for all of us. Accordingly, the manner in which our teams will operate this season will be a little different than in the previous four.

For one, you will be dancing in a mask at all times! Our covid-19 safety precautions are perhaps the most strict policies amongst dance studios in the Washington metro area. Watch these videos covering our Safety Protocols and the successful Testing of those protocols.

Secondly, as we continue to offer virtual classes in addition to in-person classes, our competition teams will get the added feature of having their in-person rehearsals live-streamed for those members who prefer to attend virtually from home.

Thirdly, just like with schools and jobs throughout the world, there’s no definitive clarity on when things will return to normal. For the time being, we’re hoping that by March 2021, a vaccine will be widely available and we can attend competition in person. As it is, the entire dance competition industry has been adjusting their offerings to accommodate the situation at hand, so there is no shortage of flexible options available to us. Many competitions are currently offering audience-free events requiring masks for all involved, which would fit our strict safety protocols. If that option doesn’t seem safe enough at the time, we will go with the option of submitting our competition entries via video.

Despite all these adjustments, one thing will NOT change: You will receive the best training and support from the studio and its coaches, production staff, and the entire parent community.

Best of luck with this season’s auditions and we look forward to another fulfilling year with all of you!

B2D Competition Team Program

A studio-wide mission of cultivating talent and personal growth drives the Competition Team Program at Born 2 Dance. While our teams’ focus is on competition, our mantra encompasses a broader range of objectives, including building a strong dance foundation, embracing the spirit of collaborative team work, and exercising the highest sportsmanship at all times. As we always say, “growth is our favorite trophy!”

Currently, B2D is home to over a dozen competition teams in Hip Hop, Contemporary, Jazz, and Tap, ranging in level from beginner to advanced.
