The B2D competition team program is driven by a studio-wide mission to build and cultivate talent.

Even though most of our teams’ time and energy are dedicated to their multiple performances each season, our mission encompasses a broader range of objectives, including building and growing a strong technique foundation.

As our mantra goes, “growth is our favorite trophy!”

This upcoming season, 2025/26, is the 10th for our competition team program, and the 18th for our studio!

In addition to the current season’s teams, new and exciting additions are coming to the 2025/26 season: 

– ACT I Acro beginner team for ages 6-8 with Ms. Danae

– ECHO Lyrical Beginner/Intermediate team for ages 9-12 with Ms. Janet

All age brackets shown are based on the dancer’s age as of January 1, 2025 to align with the regional competitions’ guidelines. 

VIEW NEW SEASON’S TEAM LINEUP ►

1. Recurring Team Dues:
   1. Cover the weekly team rehearsal fees.
   2. The fees are $22.75 per rehearsal hour (i.e. $182 every 4 weeks).
   3. The fees are prorated to reflect any days off or rescheduling for the team rehearsal.
   4. The fees are billed directly to the card/account on file every 4 weeks in advance, typically during the week preceding the 4-week billing period.
   5. Dancers in more than one B2D competition team receive a 10% discount on their second (or third or fourth, if applicable) team’s billing.
2. Technique Classes: 
   1. In addition to their mandatory weekly team rehearsals, all dancers will be enrolled and billed by the studio in their required technique classes each series (e.g. Fall, Spring, etc.).
      1. The required technique classes as they correspond to teams are as follows: Ballet I through IV for Jazz and Contemporary team dancers, Hip Hop Drills Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced for Hip Hop team dancers, and Acro I, II, or III for Acro team dancers.
   2. All dancers will be enrolled in and billed by the studio in an additional choreography based class as specified.
      1. Dancers in multiple teams requiring multiple technique classes (e.g. Ballet and Acro, Hip hop and Acro, etc.) will be allowed to double count their technique requirements to fulfill this additional class requirement.
3. Competition: Entry Fees:
   1. Cover the fees paid to each Competition on behalf of the dancer.
   2. The fees vary by competition, with an estimated range of $70 to $95 per competition (based on 2025 season.)
4. Competition: Studio Fees:
   1. Cover the team director, staff, and administrative fees incurred by the studio in the course of managing and attending competition.
   2. The fee is $45 per local competition event.
5. Team Gear Fees:
   1. Cover the studio-specific warm-up jacket/top that all teams are required to wear to competition (before and after their performance), as well as a Team T-Shirt, which dancers wear to festivals or other events in which the teams are participating.
   2. The team gear may or may not change for every competition season.
   3. When dancers outgrow their size, they will be required to purchase a new one.
   4. The warmup jacket cost around $100 and the T-shirt cost $25
6. Travel & Lodging Fees:
   1. Not applicable for the regular season’s regional events, as those typically are held within the greater Washington metro area
   2. Travel is necessary for the Nationals event over the summer, but that event is optional for all dancers. 
7. Media Fees
   
   1. Cover the the cost of pictures and videos that we purchase after each competition. 
   2. These fees vary by competition, with an estimated range of $15 to $35 per competition.
8. Mandatory Private Lessons:
   1. Cover the fees for the private lesson required when a dancer misses class within the allowable absence limits but is determined to not have sufficiently learned the material covered during their absence (SEE ATTENDANCE section)
   2. Covers the fees for the privates lessons required when a dancer misses more classes than the allowable absence limits and is granted exemption to continue with the team (SEE ATTENDANCE section)
   3. The fee for the private lesson is $105 per hour.
   4. The fees are billed through the card/account submitted on the B2D Private Lesson Form.

Needless to say, you could audition for as many team groups as you’d like. In our program, it’s quite common for dancers to be on more than one team across different genres (e.g. Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Jazz.) 

Auditions for the new season will allow dancers to tryout by either attending the in-person auditions (preferred method) on May 31st and/or June 1st OR by submitting an audition video following the instructions provided. 

The audition combo video will be posted here around May 19th giving you around two weeks to prepare for either the in-person audition or to submit a video. These combinations are only available via video and will NOT be taught during the in-person auditions.

1) LEARN THE COMBO(S)
Using the videos provided in their respective sections below (Hip Hop vs. Contemporary, etc.), you will work on learning the combos for the team(s) you’re applying for. 

2) PREPARE ANY ADDITIONAL ITEMS WHEN REQUESTED
Review the videos carefully, and make note of any additional requirements outlined by the coaches. 

3) CHOOSE YOUR AUDITION OPTION
Dancers can tryout by via video submission or by attending the in-person auditions (our preferred method.) You can indicate your preference inside the audition form.

4) COMPLETE THE AUDITION FORM
Once ready, please complete and submit this Audition Form (this form is also available inside each of the style-specific sections below.) You can submit one form for multiple auditions.

Inside the same form you can indicate whether you want to audition at the official in-person audition or submit a video instead. See next section listing in-person audition dates and submission deadlines.

– AUDITION INSTRUCTIONS (**IN-PERSON**):
You will be assigned a race number upon arriving to affix to your shirt.

When it’s your turn, you will be guided to the classroom in front of a judge panel where, along with 3-5 other applicants, you will demo the combo you’ve learned, as well as demo any other technique elements that are outlined in the style-specific sections below. 

– DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR IN-PERSON AUDITIONS :
The deadline line to submit the Audition Form for in-person auditions is 5pm on Thursday, May 29th.

– AUDITION INSTRUCTIONS (**VIDEO SUBMISSION**):
Dancers interested in auditioning via video submissions must follow the guidelines below. Please keep in mind that in-person auditions are our preferred method, but we do allow video submissions for dancers who may be traveling during audition weekend. 

1. First you must complete the Audition Form. Inside the form, you’ll see the link for the video submission option. 
2. You must upload a video file inside the audition form. We can’t accept links to YouTube, Vimeo, or other online platforms   
3. Speak your name and the styles/version that you are auditioning
4. Record the video in a clearly lit space
5. Make sure you have enough room for full movement
6. Your full body must be seen throughout the entire video
7. The Music must be heard clearly

Once your video is ready to be submitted, complete and submit the audition form (shown in each style-specific section below), and upload your video inside the form.

– DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR VIDEO SUBMISSION:
The deadline line to submit the Audition Form for a video submission is 7pm on Sunday, June 1st. 

1) PLACEMENT TIMELINES
We expect to finalize and announce placements the week of June 17th (the day after our 30th Recital.) Placement results will be announced directly via email sent privately to each applicant.

2) PLACEMENT IN DIFFERENT TEAMS
While we do give applicants the opportunity to tryout for specific teams, the final placement may be for teams that you did not audition for. Beyond age eligibility, we make placement decisions based on a host of variables, with the goal of placing each dancer in the team that would benefit their dance training the most.

When you submit the audition form, you would indicate whether you will be:

• Attending the in-person auditions to demonstrate the combo shown here OR
• You can choose to upload a video of you doing the combo instead (i.e. video submission.)
